Snow chains or AutoSocks for my ski trip?

AutoSock are regarded as "snow chain equivalents" in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Slovenia and now France. Since 2001, AutoSock is certified by TÜV Süd as a "winter emergency driving aid", creating a new product category in addition to metal snow chains.

When the snow chain signs appear on French roads, you will need to display a sticker for your AutoSocks - giving some additional information in order to comply with the French national standard. If you require this sticker then please specify when ordering. Alternatively, you can download it by clicking here.

It's also worth mentioning that although AutoSocks provide excellent traction - they cannot rival the performance of chains in extreme conditions (steep slopes, hair pin bends, patchy ice). Ideally, we suggest you take a set of chains and a set of AutoSocks - to enjoy the best of both worlds!

For rear-wheel drive vehicles, we would definitely advise a set of snow chains on the rear wheels and a set of AutoSocks on the front for maximum traction and control.
